Specialist Osteopathic Care for Pregnant & Postpartum Women
Osteopaths are able to treat people at all stages of life by addressing a wide range of conditions or health concerns, including during pregnancy. If you’re expecting a baby or have recently given birth, you may be curious to how osteopathy could help you during this time.
We offer up to 6 sessions (total) for pregnant and/or postpartum women at our clinic. We recommend 3 during pregnancy and 3 postpartum (within 6 months of the birth), but it is up to you to decide how you wish to spread out your sessions.

During pregnancy, you may experience significant physical changes that can lead to discomfort. What Is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy uses hands-on techniques that focus on easing tension, improving mobility, and encouraging relaxation.
Treatment is safe, effective, and completely drug-free; a great option for parents seeking natural and holistic support during pregnancy.
Why Consider Osteopathy During Pregnancy?
Simply put, the body changes during pregnancy. Those changes include the softening of ligaments, weight increase, and changes to posture. That can lead to additional pressure on joints in various parts of the body, including the spine or pelvis. Crucially, our osteopaths employ gentle manual techniques for your changing body.
Additionally, many mothers find that osteopathy can help relieve the mental stresses and strains, as well as the physical.
Postpartum Osteopathic Care
Osteopathic care can also be valuable after your baby is born. Post-natal osteopathy aims to support recovery by restoring balance, easing strain, and helping you return to comfortable movement. New mums that visit the Osteopathic Centre for Children clinic often comment that our osteopaths help to relax and soothe both their body and mind.
"I can see my son is always more content and settled after treatment. I have also had some sessions and find them relaxing and calming. I feel generally more in balance after my treatment."

Our Osteopaths Specialise in Perinatal Treatment
All osteopaths at the Osteopathic Centre for Children are trained to provide gentle, holistic treatment to support you on your journey. Specialising in paediatrics and perinatal care, our cohort of osteopaths are experts in the field.
At your first appointment, you’ll be asked to disclose any special medical conditions or complications so that the osteopath can treat you appropriately. If you are under obstetric care for particular issues, check with your midwife or obstetrician that osteopathic treatment is suitable for you and discuss how it fits with your overall care plan.
"Although the OCC wasn’t my first experience of osteopathy, it was by far the best. We loved the calm atmosphere of the OCC, and the relationship we developed with our osteopath made us feel genuinely cared for."

Holistic Treatment for Mum and Baby
When making an appointment at the Osteopathic Centre for Clinic, we encourage Mum to also book a session for Baby. To help soothe and relax babies following delivery or medical care, our osteopaths are specially trained to use extremely gentle manual techniques that are commonly referred to as cranial osteopathy. This is involves the osteopath placing hands lightly on various parts of the body including the head, in order to read and to resolve tissue tension or strain
